South Kitsap Fire & Rescue in conjunction with Safe Kids Kitsap is one of a few departments in Kitsap County that does FREE car seat inspections. The inspections are done on the forth Tuesday of each month by appointment only and take about 30 to 45 minutes each. During your appointment we will provide a seat inspection, teach you how to install your seat in your car and how to secure your child in the seat.
Did you know Washington State law requires;
- Children under the age of 13 to ride in the back seat, when ever practical.
- Children under age 8 or 4’9” tall must be in approved restraint system.
- Infants under 1 y/o to be in a rear-facing car seat.
- Toddlers’ 1-2 y/o rear-facing or forward facing convertible seat.
- Preschooler 3-5 y/o forward facing 5 point harness.
- School-Age under age 8 or under 4’9” tall in a booster seat.
- Car seats expire after 6 years.
