Response Time

The District covers approximately 117 square miles, including the City of Port Orchard and all unincorporated areas in South Kitsap. This includes the communities of Gorst, Navy Yard City, Rocky Point, Manchester, Southworth, Olalla, Burley, Sunnyslope, and McCormick Woods.

The current fire stations were built before data and statistics were available to determine station locations.

Many of the District’s current stations are not placed in strategic locations based on changes in our community demographics.

The new stations will be built in strategic locations based on data and statistics for the current and future needs of the public.

Five stations are only staffed with two firefighters in order to distribute our personnel over 117 square miles.

When the new stations are built, the District will be able to “core-up” our personnel and staff each station with a minimum of four firefighters and paramedics. This will increase the reliability of the stations for the citizens in those areas.
