Cody Baker

Cody Baker’s path into fire service was solidified by the age of 16, influenced by two people: a grandfather who served as a fire chief and a high-school teacher who was a retired training chief — roles that mirror the work he leads today. Their mentorship, paired with his first ride-along where he witnessed firefighters save a choking toddler first-hand, shaped his commitment to a profession built on skill, compassion, and teamwork.

Cody joined South Kitsap Fire and Rescue in 2004 as a volunteer firefighter and became a career firefighter in 2006. He expanded his scope of emergency medical training by becoming a Paramedic and served as Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief before being promoted to Division Chief in Operations in 2023. With over 20 years of experience, his leadership brought him to become Division Chief of Health, Safety & Training in 2025.

What drives Cody is empowering others: equipping crews to perform at their best, strengthening team culture, and serving as a “force multiplier” whose work makes the organization better and stronger. In turn, he hopes to inspire those in his community to have the same mindset and impact.
