Mike Kehl
Mike has called South Kitsap home since relocating to Port Orchard in 1996. Driven by a passion for helping others, he built a 35-year career in the fire service, rising through the ranks and spending the majority of his career as a Captain, including over 12 years in Union leadership.
Today, he serves as SKFR’s Division Chief of Emergency Medical Services, holding a bachelor’s degree in allied health and numerous fire service certifications, including paramedicine, technical rescue, leadership, and senior EMS instructor.
Mike thrives on the unique daily challenges of the job, particularly within SKFR’s busy environment with limited resources. Among his proudest accomplishments is serving as incident commander during the Port Orchard tornado in December 2018, successfully mitigating one of the community’s most high-pressure emergencies.
