South Kitsap Fire and Rescue to Honor Fallen Lieutenant Loyd McCallister at State, National, and International Memorial Events.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue (SKFR) announces its participation in several upcoming memorial events to honor the life and legacy of Retired Lieutenant Loyd McCallister, who passed away on February 22, 2025, after an eleven-year battle with job-related cancer. Lt. McCallister served the citizens of South Kitsap for more than 25 years with dedication, professionalism, and compassion.

A Line-of-Duty Death Memorial Service was held in March 2025, bringing together family, friends, and colleagues to celebrate his life and recognize his sacrifice. As part of the continued remembrance, members of SKFR, alongside Lt. McCallister’s family and representatives from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2876, and Local 3817 will attend several significant memorial events throughout the year.
