South Kitsap Fire & Rescue (SKFR) is located in Port Orchard, WA and currently provides service to the Orchard, Heights, Retsil, Manchester, Olalla, Burley, Glenwood, Sunnyslope, Navy Yard City and Gorst neighborhoods and communities. Altogether, our fire district covers 117 square miles and serve approximately 80,925 citizens. With a total of 11 fire stations, 9 serve as career stations and 2 serve as stations ran by volunteers who are part of the South Kitsap Fire & Rescue Volunteer Association (SKFRVA).
Our administration building is located at Station 8 and is the central office for the fire district's administrative division and management team. South Kitsap Fire and Rescue has over 150 personnel and is comprised of leadership, administrative, training, community programs, operations and volunteer staff members.
SKFR is led by the Fire Chief & elected Board of Fire Commissioners who oversee our 2 deputy chiefs followed by our 3 division chiefs, 3 battalion chiefs and administrative office staff. The organization operates in two sections: the Emergency Services section, which coordinates our career and volunteer firefighter programs and fire prevention responses. And the Administrative Services section, which manages physical resources, IT, human resources, and administrative support. This includes maintaining facilities, vehicles, and providing essential equipment, tools, and uniforms to all members.
