As a long-time Port Orchard native and South Kitsap High School graduate, Matt brings nearly three decades of dedicated service, continuous learning, and community-focused leadership. Beginning his career as a resident volunteer firefighter in 1997, he discovered a deep purpose in helping others and advanced through every level of the fire service — from Firefighter/EMT to Paramedic, to Medical Services Officer, and now Division Chief of Prevention. His degrees in Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services reflect a commitment to mastering his craft in service to the community he has called home his entire life.
Today, Matt oversees community risk reduction efforts, the CARES Program, public outreach, and peer and chaplain support program. Driven by a lifelong belief in early intervention, he is advancing SKFR’s prevention efforts with a proactive, compassionate approach — building a safer, healthier, and more resilient South Kitsap.
